My name is Kristýna Greňová and I’ve been teaching English since high school.
English has always been my biggest hobby. It all started with Harry Potter, actually. I fell in love with the books as a child and wanted to read more sooner. However, having Czech as my mother tongue, I had to wait for the translations to come out first.
And the waiting grated, it really did. Our translator was doing excellent work, but he was taking simply too long for my impatient, 10-year-old self. Then a solution presented itself: I could get my hands on the original, grab myself a dictionary and read the book in English. And that is precisely what I did.
Other books and media followed until I was in my last year of high school and had my very own Certificate of Proficiency in English (grade A) in my hands. I began to teach soon after.
Naturally, I’m aware that not everyone has the time or the inclination to spend hours and hours buried in books, learning a language through osmosis as it were. I approach each student individually and together with them prepare lessons based on their availability, hobbies and interests.
